A criminal case has been opened in the Sovetsky District following a fatal traffic accident.
A tragedy occurred during the day on November 15 at the 149th kilometer of the Kirov–Sovetsk–Yaransk highway. According to investigators, the 32-year-old driver of a Scania truck, driving a mechanically sound vehicle, failed to take into account the characteristics of handling a heavy vehicle, the road conditions and the weather. An improperly chosen speed caused the man to lose control of the vehicle, cross into the oncoming lane and collide with a Toyota Land Cruiser 200. The impact was fatal: the 50-year-old driver of the SUV and his 40-year-old passenger sustained injuries incompatible with life. As a result of the check, a criminal case has been opened under Part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of two or more persons. Necessary forensic examinations have been ordered, and the investigation is establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
