The "orphanage" in Novovyatsk has been flooded with feces again.
A sharp smell can be detected across the entire street, preventing people from opening windows or taking children to the playground, the People's Front reports. In the crawl space where the pile foundation is located there is a brown sludge with clumps that is giving off fumes — residents fear that insects will soon reappear, as they did before.
This is a repeat of the situation that made headlines a year ago. At that time, a huge volume of sewage had accumulated in the building's basement, creating a threat to the load-bearing structures. The building at 16B Rukhlyadyeva was built in 2014 specifically for orphaned children, but numerous defects were discovered immediately after it was occupied. Young residents then nicknamed it "cardboard" because of the thin walls, and officials' decision to commission the building drew the attention of law enforcement.
In the summer of 2024 the People's Front already intervened: a broken pipe was discovered, the waste was pumped out, and a new sewer pit was installed next to the building. The State Housing Inspectorate confirmed the presence of the foul-smelling puddle and then promised to issue an order to the management company. The story also reached the Investigative Committee — Alexander Bastrykin ordered a report on the progress of the probe into violations of the orphans' rights.
But a year later the problem has returned. Residents say that the management company responsible for the building (since March 26, 2025 it has been managed by LLC "Gorod 43") responds sluggishly to requests. According to residents, they cannot obtain either a prompt inspection or the repair of the emergency. According to the People's Front, the sewer pipe in the crawl space has ruptured again — the mounts rotted, so sewage began flowing directly under the building. Representatives of the management company promise to carry out repairs next week and to pump out the waste, but residents are not convinced this will happen without pressure from activists.
People's Front expert Dmitry Sergeev notes that if the management company again fails to keep its promises, the activists intend to file a complaint with the prosecutor's office. Meanwhile, residents continue to live in the building, beneath which a sewage "lake" is once again growing, threatening their safety.
