According to reports, over the first ten months of this year there were six traffic accidents involving pit bikes in Kirov in which people were injured. Last year there were four, representing a 50% increase. Seven people were injured; a year earlier there had been five.
During the period in question the police detained 270 pit bike riders without licenses, mostly teenagers. In 35 cases the riders were drunk; eight refused alcohol testing (again mostly teenagers). Four criminal cases have been opened in connection with repeat offenses.
