A woman from Kirov inflated the value of a room and embezzled 430,000 rubles of maternity capital.

      In February of last year a 25-year-old woman from Kirov, entitled to maternity capital due to the birth of a child, applied to a consumer credit cooperative to obtain a loan to purchase housing. She then, under the pretext of improving her housing conditions, bought a room in a communal apartment in Slobodskoy, and, with the aim of stealing money, knowingly provided false information about the property's price in the sale contract, inflating the price from 200,000 to 630,000 rubles — to match the amount of the maternity capital.

      A criminal case has been opened against the woman. She is suspected of committing the crime provided for in Part 3 of Article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud in obtaining payments). Based on the submitted documents, the authorized body decided to grant the woman state support and to transfer 630,000 rubles to the account of the consumer credit cooperative to repay the targeted loan.

      The resident of Kirov spent 430,000 rubles obtained as a result of the crime on personal expenses.

      Investigators are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident and gathering evidence. In addition, measures are being taken to recover the losses.
