Kirov residents will be able to see a supermoon.

The public group "Amateur Astronomy in Kirov" reported that on the night of November 5–6 residents of our region will be able to observe a rare celestial event — a supermoon. It occurs when a full moon coincides with the moment the Moon comes closest to Earth.

The full moon will occur on November 5 at 16:19 Moscow time, and nine hours later the Moon will be at perigee — the point in its orbit nearest to Earth. At that time the distance between our planet and its satellite will be about 356,000 kilometers.

During a supermoon the Moon appears roughly 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual. This difference is not easy to notice with the naked eye; however, against buildings or trees the Moon will look particularly large.
