Authorities have abandoned plans to build a high-rise on the corner of MOPR and Defenders of the Fatherland streets.
Today Governor Alexander Sokolov touched on the subject of erecting a multi-story building on the corner of MOPR Street and Defenders of the Fatherland Street. He said that last year a condemned wooden house there was demolished, after which the administration announced that it was considering organizing a public space. However, instead of the latter the authorities suddenly decided to pursue infill development, and local residents began to protest. Sokolov added that "it's already cramped there," there are not enough kindergartens, schools and parking spaces, and now they have come up with building another house.
Acting head of the Kirov administration Dmitry Pechenkin reported that after numerous complaints on social media, on October 31 the administration adopted a decree canceling the comprehensive development of the area for further elaboration and discussion of the issue, including with residents of adjacent apartment buildings. "We will find a solution that suits everyone," the official promised.
Sokolov thanked the administration's leadership for canceling the "wrong" decision and scolded them for having made it. He ordered the Ministry of Construction to develop a regulation for all municipalities that will prevent such situations in the future.
