An era has ended: Nikolai Pikhtin has died.
Speaking of Nikolai Pikhtin in the past tense feels strange and painful. Modest and thoughtful, the “grandfather of Vyatka’s internet,” he devoted a great deal of effort to the development of information technologies in our region. Nikolai Pikhtin was always someone with whom one could discuss technological innovations — be it programming languages, the vagaries of working with AI, or politics.
He remarkably combined many qualities, above all patriotism and a sincere desire to improve the region. That is why he went to work — truly to work, not merely to hold a position — in the Public Chamber of the Kirov Region. He knew a lot and understood much, but he never acted on emotion or made hasty conclusions. Perhaps that is why his opinion was worth its weight in gold, and a conversation with him often put many things in their proper place.
He understood problems and tasks and could analyze any matter thoroughly. He also helped people — a warm and sincere heart beat in his chest until November 3, 2025, but his mind was cool and as sharp as a razor. This helped him remain true to his principles and be a patriot.
His passing is truly a loss. Newsler.ru expresses its deep condolences to his family and loved ones.
