A horse missing a hoof from "Zhemchuzhny" was rescued.
Posts on social media appeared about a horse with a hoof injury that allegedly has been in the Zhemchuzhny microdistrict near Kirovo-Chepetsk for more than a week. Eyewitnesses wrote that the animal was moving on three legs and that passersby were feeding it by hand.
According to the Kirov Region Veterinary Department, on November 1 specialists from KOGBU “Kirovo-Chepetsk Raion SBBZh” went to the location where the animal was kept. They found the horse — it was not on public property but was grazing in a field, tethered.
“The horse’s condition is satisfactory, appetite is preserved. At the site of the missing hoof there is a small amount of regrown deformed hoof material with small ulcers,” the Veterinary Department clarified.
The specialists provided treatment: antibiotic and anti-inflammatory therapy, as well as wound treatment with an antibacterial spray.
The agency also reported that veterinary services had already been provided for this horse at the owner’s request on August 4, October 8 and October 29.
