In an old house in Vakhrushi, they found a 1912 newspaper, war games, and a bag of prewar shoes.
The Tom Sawyer Fest team has been working for several months on moving an old house from Vakhrushi to 20 Rabochaya Street in the Nikulitskaya Sloboda ethnovillage. Over three months volunteers found dozens of historical artifacts in the attic.
As the project team wrote in the "Tom Sawyer Fest on Vyatka" group on the social network VKontakte, among the finds were: a 1912 newspaper bearing the name of the house’s owner, about whom nothing had been known before; tabletop military-tactical games from the 1920s–1930s; prewar anatomy posters; a sack of old shoes; documents; and even a piece of leather with German quality stamps. All the finds will be preserved for a future museum that will be located at the new site in the ethnovillage.
"The attic has become a real excavation site. Now, together with history students, we will try to reconstruct the history of this house," writes the "Tom Sawyer Fest on Vyatka" public page.
Organizers said that active preparations are now underway to disassemble and transport the house. Volunteers and students are removing the cladding, labeling every board, and collecting old brickwork from the stoves to use in the restoration. The house is planned to be reassembled, preserving the original elements as much as possible.
