Residents of the Podosinovsky District are complaining en masse about pollution of the Yug River.
A few days ago, complaints began appearing in local social media groups about the discharge of allegedly sewage effluent into the Yug River in the settlement of Demyanovo in the Podosinovsky District. In the published videos one can see the river covered with large flakes of dirty foam. Residents of the settlement claim that such problems have been observed for a long time, but that it has gotten even worse now. They also say there is a strong unpleasant smell, especially at the discharge site.
On the evening of October 27, another video filmed by a local resident appeared on the “Zhest — Podosinovsky District” page. It shows that the situation has practically not changed. In the comments the page’s authors added a screenshot of a response received from the regional Ministry of Environmental Protection. It reads:
“The information about pollution of the Yug River has been confirmed. Inspectors of the Kirov Region Ministry of Environmental Protection visited the scene on October 22, 2025 and October 24, 2025, where they recorded the fact of pollution. It was established that the water body and the enterprise allegedly responsible for the discharges are subject to federal environmental control.” In this regard, Kirov officials promptly informed the West Ural Interregional Department of Rosprirodnadzor. Which response measures will be taken is not yet known.
