In Kotelnich a sentence was handed down in the case of a fatal accident on the R-243 Kostroma — Sharya — Kirov — Perm highway. A 58-year-old resident of Novorossiysk was brought to trial. He was found guilty of violating traffic rules that resulted in a person's death.
The accident occurred on the morning of December 27, 2024, near the village of Bolvanskaya in the Kotelnichsky district. The driver of a DAF truck, having failed to choose a safe speed, collided with a GAZ road service vehicle, which after the impact crashed into a Volvo loader.
As a result of the crash two members of the road crew were injured. One of them died, the other was taken to hospital in serious condition.
The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to two years' imprisonment. However, taking into account mitigating circumstances, the court converted this sentence to two years of compulsory work with part of his earnings to be withheld for the benefit of the state.
