A resident of Sovetsk "gave a police officer a ride on the hood"
As the investigation established, on the afternoon of July 2, 2025, at the 133rd kilometer of the Kirov–Sovetsk–Yaransk highway, police officers stopped a man's car during operational-search activities. Law enforcement had grounds to believe that prohibited substances might be in the vehicle. However, the driver, aware of the possible consequences of detention, attempted to flee and put the car in motion, striking one of the officers. The officer ended up on the hood, but the man did not stop and continued driving. As a result, the police officer fell onto the asphalt and sustained injuries. The man's guilt was confirmed by witness testimony, expert conclusions and other evidence. The court found the resident of Sovetsk guilty under Part 2 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Use of violence dangerous to life and health against a representative of authority") and sentenced him to three years' imprisonment in a general-regime penal colony. The convict's car was confiscated and forfeited to the state. The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
