An arsenal of weapons from the Great Patriotic War was seized in Kirov.
During operational-search activities, a cache was discovered containing four engineering mines, two firearms and more than 150 rounds of ammunition of various calibers. Experts are currently conducting a ballistic examination, after which a decision will be made on initiating a criminal case under Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (for illegal acquisition, possession or transfer of weapons and ammunition).
For such an offense, Russian law provides for up to 12 years' imprisonment. At the same time, law enforcement officers reminded that the voluntary surrender of weapons exempts one from criminal liability; however, this rule does not apply to caches found during arrests or investigative activities.
