In 2025, more than 217,000 passengers traveled by train from Kirov to Moscow.
According to the Gorky Railway, long-distance trains connecting Kirov and Moscow continue to show positive passenger traffic dynamics. Over the first nine months of 2025, 217.4 thousand passengers departed from the city on the Vyatka River for the capital. Fifteen direct and transit trains operate between Kirov and Moscow. Overall, the Gorky Railway is also recording growth in passenger traffic on other routes. Thus, 1.1 million people departed from Nizhny Novgorod for Moscow in the same period (+1%), 576.6 thousand from Kazan (+4.2%), and 105.3 thousand from Izhevsk (+0.1%). In addition, from December 3, 2025, a new high-speed double-decker train, "Burevestnik," will begin operating on the Nizhny Novgorod–Moscow section. It will run three times a day, and the journey will take about four hours.
