"A dozen eggs for a dollar": Russia has some of the cheapest eggs

Analysts studied data on the 127 largest economies in the world ahead of World Egg Day, which is celebrated on October 10, RIA Novosti reports. The average global price for ten eggs was about 191 rubles. The cheapest eggs were in India — just 64 rubles for ten. They are followed by Iran, Bangladesh and Pakistan, while Russia rounds out the top five countries with the lowest prices, with an average cost of 82 rubles per ten. By comparison, in Switzerland you would have to pay roughly 514 rubles for ten eggs, in Iceland — 455 rubles, and in New Zealand — 427 rubles. Among the G20 countries, after India and Russia the most affordable prices were recorded in Indonesia and China — about 100 rubles for ten eggs. So, if Russians decided to have breakfast in Switzerland, an omelet would cost six times as much — and that’s without bacon.
