In the Kirov Region, the investigation into a criminal case opened against two men has been completed. They are accused of fraud and extortion.
According to the Investigative Committee, between 2022 and 2024 one of the defendants deceived a local resident engaged in illegal gambling and obtained 160,000 rubles from him. He promised to hand the money over to law enforcement officers but in fact appropriated it.
In addition, in 2023 the defendants, acting together, took another 200,000 rubles from the same man. They acted according to a prearranged plan and again misled the victim.
The perpetrators also extorted money from the man by threatening to use violence and to damage property. As a result, the victim handed them more than 108,000 rubles.
The men's actions were stopped by police officers. The criminal case file was recently forwarded to the court.
