At the Kirov Children's Regional Hospital, doctors managed to save the life of a child who had contracted tetanus. According to the Ministry of Health, the three-year-old boy was admitted in serious condition after stepping on a metal object. The parents treated the wound themselves but did not see a doctor, and the child had not been vaccinated for religious reasons.
Ten days after the injury the child developed convulsions and respiratory failure. The illness was accompanied by severe pain and dangerous complications. For 42 days the boy was in intensive care on a mechanical ventilator, experienced clinical death, but doctors were able to bring him back to life.
Specialists continued treatment for two months. The child was recently discharged home in stable condition. He is now breathing on his own, moving independently, and actively interacting with his relatives.
