      According to a study by RIA Novosti, only 13 families in the Kirov Oblast are able to afford the purchase of a 60-square-meter apartment with a mortgage. At the same time, the monthly mortgage payment averages 69,800 rubles. Incidentally, the region ranked 59th out of 85 in mortgage affordability.

      For comparison, the leader of the ranking was the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug: there, nearly 47% of families can afford a mortgage. In second and third place were the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Chukotka, where affordability stood at 44.3% and 42%, respectively.

      Overall in Russia, mortgages are available to more than 30% of families in only seven regions. In most federal subjects the figure is between 15% and 25%, and in 16 regions less than 10% of residents can afford an apartment on credit. Rounding out the ranking are Sevastopol, Crimea, Dagestan and Altai, where mortgages are available to fewer than 5% of families.
