Chief physician of Kirov Clinical Hospital No. 7 named after V.I. Yurlova, Alexander Sobolev, has been awarded the title "Honored Healthcare Worker of the Russian Federation." The corresponding decree was signed by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
The award was presented for his many years of contribution to protecting the health of the region's population, for introducing innovative technologies into the endocrinology service, and for the effective organization of work on national projects.
Alexander Anatolyevich began his career as an intern physician at Kirov City Hospital No. 1, then worked as a therapist and head of departments in various medical institutions in the Kirov region. From 1996 to 2006 he served as the region's chief freelance diabetologist, and he has headed Kirov Clinical Hospital No. 7 for almost 17 years, on the basis of which the Regional Endocrinology Center and a district unit in the urban-type settlement of Bogorodskoye operate.
Under Sobolev's leadership, the hospital has implemented modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of endocrine diseases, including diabetes mellitus. A school called "Diabetes — a Way of Life" has been created with interactive educational materials, and high-tech medical care has been organized with the installation of modern insulin pumps. Patients come to the endocrinology center from across the country.
All of Alexander Sobolev's activities are aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of medical care, preventing and treating endocrine diseases, and raising physicians' professional competence.
