In Kirov, they have entered a new stage in the construction of the tunnel under the Trans-Siberian Railway.
The contractor has now begun shoring up the second, reception pit — it is located on the opposite side of the Trans-Siberian Railway. It is planned to drive 298 sheet piles to ensure the stability of the future structures. Similar work was completed over the summer on the starting pit, where 269 sheet piles were driven into the ground. Work at the site is proceeding around the clock. Drilling rigs and a pile-driving complex are deployed on the construction site, and the number of machines and workers is gradually increasing. Currently 65 people are working on the site; by the end of the year there will be around 100. By the end of 2025 the builders intend to begin tunnelling under the railway.
