The Kirov Prosecutor's Office discussed combating organized crime groups.
On September 26, a coordination meeting was held at the Kirov Region Prosecutor's Office, chaired by acting regional prosecutor Dmitry Sherstnyov.
According to the agency's press service, in recent years the region has developed a stable practice of combating organized crime. According to the prosecutor's office, in 2024–2025 law enforcement agencies managed to suppress the activities of criminal groups involved in illegal migration under the guise of studying at Kirov universities, fraud against elderly residents, illegal logging, embezzlement of maternity capital funds, drug and weapons trafficking, as well as poaching.
Sherstnyov emphasized that only joint actions by the prosecutor's office, regional directorates of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), the Federal Security Service (FSB), the Investigative Committee (SK) and the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) make it possible to effectively combat organized criminal groups.
Following the meeting, a package of measures was developed aimed at further improving cooperation between law enforcement and investigative bodies and increasing the effectiveness of their work.
