Nearly 9 tonnes of plastic were collected at Gorky Railway stations.
According to the Kirov region of the Gorky Railway, from January to August 2025 passengers and visitors returned nearly 9 tons of recyclables to fandomats* installed at stations along the line. This is 12% more than in the same period last year.
The most plastic and aluminum were collected at the stations in Cheboksary, Kazan, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov and Izhevsk. The collected bottles and cans are sorted, cleaned and shredded, after which they become raw material for the production of new goods: from clothing and furniture to footwear and packaging.
Fandomats motivate people with bonuses: for each bottle or can returned, points are credited that can be exchanged for discounts in stores, cafes, online cinemas and with other partners. To receive bonuses, you must provide a phone number registered with the Ecoplatform program.
A total of 28 fandomats have been installed on the Gorky Railway, including at Kirov station.
*Fandomats are machines that accept empty containers (bottles and cans) from the public in exchange for a reward.
