A 12-year-old schoolboy found a gold bracelet from the 1st century AD.

According to Popular Mechanics, schoolboy Rowan Brennan came across a fragment of a 1st-century AD gold bracelet in a field in the town of Pagham. According to the boy's mother, she initially asked her son to throw away the "piece of metal," but he insisted that the find might be valuable. Experts at the British Museum confirmed that the teenager had discovered part of a Roman bracelet that was likely a military award for bravery. The artifact was acquired by the Novium Museum with the support of a grant, and it is now on display. Chichester District Council representative Adrian Moss noted that the story "shows that you never know what treasures you can find if you are observant."
