Russia led imports of Chinese passenger cars.
Deliveries of Chinese cars to the Russian market at the end of the summer rose by about 25%, reaching $796.4 million, RIA Novosti reports citing Chinese customs data. This is the best figure since the end of last year. However, on a year‑on‑year basis the volume of imports was almost half of last year’s level.
Since the beginning of 2025 Russian imports of Chinese passenger cars amounted to $4.1 billion — compared with $9.15 billion for the same period in 2024. Experts link the decline to an increase in the recycling fee, which affected purchasing dynamics.
Overall, China exported cars worth $10.2 billion in August, which is 20% more than a year earlier. Over the eight months of 2025 exports amounted to $69.4 billion versus $59.2 billion for January–August of last year.
