The State Duma proposed allocating 1% of restaurant bills to support participants of the special military operation.

State Duma deputy Mikhail Matveev proposed that Russians contribute 1% of their restaurant bills to support participants in the special military operation and their families, Gazeta.ru reports.

According to Matveev, the bill is already under consideration in the State Duma. He noted that the initiative is both material and moral in nature.

"On the one hand it's a material project, and on the other it's moral — so that a person who is having fun and relaxing in an expensive restaurant would pause to think about the guys at the front who are standing somewhere knee-deep in water and defending the Motherland," the deputy said.
