According to Anton Shaparin, vice president of the National Automobile Union, the increase in the recycling fee will hit Russians' wallets: new cars will become unaffordable for many families. In addition, Gazeta.Ru notes, due to the weakening of the ruble, car prices began to rise for the first time in two years, and importers have started to cut discounts. Market participants warn that under such conditions and with high loan interest rates, it will become increasingly difficult for buyers to afford a new car.
