One of the houses in Kirov has been experiencing "rain" for a month due to an accident on the heating main.

Residents of the building at 10a Proletarsky Lane in Kirov have been facing an unusual problem for a month — high humidity in the stairwells and apartments. According to residents, water is dripping from the ceiling in the basement, the stairs and handrails remain damp, and windows and doors are covered with condensation.

“In the apartments we go to bed in damp bedding. Dry biscuits and other baked goods become soft within hours,” the residents say. They also note that the new entrance door, installed last year under the major repair program, has begun to rust, and plaster is falling off the walls.

Residents suspect that the cause of the high humidity is a heat main running near the fourth entrance. However, appeals to the utility company produced no results — they deny a leak. The management company was also unable to help the residents.

According to Dmitry Sergeev, an expert with the People’s Front, the city administration confirmed that the humidity was caused by a defect in the heat main. “The utility workers promise to fix the problem by the end of the week. If the issue is not resolved by September 22, we will involve the prosecutor’s office,” he said.

Residents hope the problem will be resolved in the coming days so they can return to normal living conditions.
