As established by the investigation and the court, on April 17, 2025, in an apartment on Gorky Street in the city of Kotel'nich, two men were drinking alcohol. A quarrel broke out between them, during which one of the drinking companions began beating the other with his hands and feet, and then struck him several times on the head with a wooden stool. From the resulting traumatic brain injury, the 39-year-old victim died on the spot.
After the murder the convicted man attempted to hide and lived for several days in a hotel in Kotel'nich, but was detained. A criminal case was opened against the 46-year-old killer. He was found guilty of committing the crime provided for in Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder).
An investigator of the Investigative Committee of Russia collected exhaustive evidence incriminating the suspect in the commission of the act charged against him. This made it possible to refer the case to court for consideration on the merits. By the court's verdict the man was sentenced to nine years' imprisonment to be served in a strict-regime correctional colony.
