The Gates of the Russian North will be lacquered before winter.
On September 16, preparations will begin in Kirov to get the art installation "Gates of the Russian North" ready for winter. According to the territorial administration of the Pervomaisky District, the wooden parts of the structure will be coated with a protective varnish that will shield the landmark from frost and temperature fluctuations.
"Tomorrow the contractor will erect scaffolding and carry out the work during the day," clarified Sergey Reshetnikov, head of the territorial administration.
It should be recalled that the "Gates of the Russian North" were installed for Kirov's 650th anniversary on the fully reconstructed Spasskaya Square. According to historical records, the site of the art installation was once occupied by the Spasskaya Tower of the Vyatka Kremlin — the city's main gates.
