Manual labor has become 'the new luxury': in Kirov Oblast, blue-collar and production workers earn more than office professionals.

According to hh.ru data, the median salary in employers’ vacancies in the region this autumn reached 60 thousand rubles, which is 10 thousand more than a year ago. Growth is especially noticeable in sectors related to manual labor. In construction and real estate the average income rose by 22.1 thousand rubles to 92 thousand rubles. For workers, wages rose to 84.1 thousand rubles (+17.6 thousand), and in manufacturing and service provision — to 78.7 thousand rubles (+17.6 thousand).

In terms of wage growth, working and production professions added more than 17 thousand rubles over the year, while in the IT sector — less than 10 thousand. At the same time, manufacturing workers and laborers have already surpassed specialists in IT (63.2 thousand), marketing and advertising (60 thousand) and sales (59.4 thousand) in terms of income, securing places in the top 10 highest-paid sectors of the region.

“Today companies offer job seekers with manual occupations an income that exceeds salaries in a number of professions across more than 18 sectors of the local labor market. This trend is explained by an acute shortage of personnel in key sectors of the economy,” explained Maria Buzunova, head of hh.ru’s regional press service.
