Among Kirov residents, fear of the coronavirus has dropped to the level of fear of the flu.

According to the study, 9% of Kirov residents admitted that they are very afraid of catching the coronavirus, and another 34% feel slightly anxious. For comparison: influenza causes strong fear in 7% of the city's residents, and 37% admitted that they are somewhat worried about this disease.

Women were found to be more anxious than men, and they more often worry not only about themselves but also about their loved ones. Among respondents older than 45, the level of anxiety is higher than among younger people. Experts explain this by noting that people of mature age are objectively more often in the risk group for developing complications from respiratory infections. In addition, those who earn less than 50,000 rubles a month fear respiratory diseases more often than wealthier residents.

The study also showed that the distribution of fears regarding influenza and the coronavirus is similar across all social and age groups. This suggests that Kirov residents today perceive both diseases as part of the general picture of seasonal risks, rather than as unique threats.
