Geomagnetic storms are expected on Earth in the coming days.
The cause of the storms is a large coronal hole on the Sun emitting a stream of fast solar wind. Earth will enter this region on the night between Saturday and Sunday, and peak activity is expected on September 14–16. Solar wind speed could rise to 700 km/s.
Scientists note on their Telegram channel that it is not yet possible to make an exact forecast — it will be known closer to the start of the events. However, it is possible that Earth's magnetic field will experience noticeable disturbances, and storms of levels G1–G3 (weak to moderate) are possible.
September has already become an unusually active month: three geomagnetic storms occurred in the first 10 days — ten times more often than in August.
Geomagnetic storms can cause headaches, fatigue and insomnia in people who are sensitive to weather changes. On such days it is recommended to rest more, drink enough water, avoid unnecessary stress and, if possible, reduce physical exertion.
