Seventeen men work in the region's kindergartens.
According to the agency, 75% of the total number of employees of the region’s preschool institutions are preschool teachers. Another 7% are music workers, 5% each are speech therapists and physical education instructors, and 4% are senior teachers.
Kirovstat noted that historically preschool education has been predominantly female. However, in our region at the end of 2024 there were 17 men working in kindergartens.
The largest number of preschool teaching staff at the end of last year was in the 35–49 age group: 3,000 people, or 43% of the total number of teaching staff. Teachers aged 50 and over numbered about 3,000 people, or 40% of the total preschool teaching staff.
Most teachers (40%) had 20 years or more of teaching experience. The number of young teachers amounted to more than 1,000 people: one in six teachers in the region was under 34.
The number of children enrolled in organizations providing educational activities under preschool education programs, care and supervision for children, in Kirov Oblast at the end of 2024 amounted to 54,000 people. Of the total number of children, 89% attended kindergartens in urban areas. The majority of children were boys (52%); girls accounted for 48%. The largest age group in kindergarten was children aged 5 and 6: 41% of the total number of preschoolers.
