Residents of Kirov have been relieving themselves on the street for almost a month.
As reported by the regional branch of the People's Front, the sewer pipe in the dilapidated wooden building became clogged a month ago. Sewage began to seep under the floor of a communal apartment in the building's second entrance, periodically filling the bathtub and toilet. Whenever someone used the toilet, the "flood" started again.
As a result, residents stopped using the bathtub and toilet. A 72-year-old woman whose room is next to the bathroom is particularly affected: she has to go outside. She has repeatedly contacted the management company and the State Housing Inspectorate, but to no avail.
This past weekend an emergency service arrived on site. However, they were unable to fix the problem: on the contrary, a stream of foul-smelling sewage poured into the bathroom and corridor, flooding the area leading to five rooms. The water in the building is now partially shut off, there is a strong odor, and it is impossible to clean up.
Residents turned to the People's Front for help. Activists sent an appeal to the city administration, which promised to repair the pipe within a week.
"Unfortunately, this is not a situation where you can wait another week. Given the management company's inaction, we have sent an appeal to the prosecutor's office," said Valeriya Cheremisinova, head of the regional branch of the People's Front.
