Every other resident of Kirov dreams of a four-day workweek.
In Kirov, more than half of residents support the idea of a shortened workweek. According to a survey, 57% of residents were in favor of switching to a four-day workweek, while only 22% were opposed.
Notably, women are more likely than men to dream of an extra day off (64% versus 50%), and people under 35 support the initiative noticeably more than older respondents (63% versus 47% among those aged 45 and older). Interestingly, the higher the income, the fewer the supporters: among Kirov residents earning up to 50,000 rubles a month, 64% backed a four-day week, while among those earning over 100,000 rubles only 45% did.
If a third day off were officially introduced, 26% of respondents would devote it to family, 23% to rest, and 12% to a side job. Men are more likely to link the extra day off with finding additional work, while women associate it with rest, hobbies and travel.
Employers, however, do not share employees’ enthusiasm. The majority of companies (87%) are not even considering a switch to a shortened week. Only 1% of organizations have already implemented a four-day schedule, and another 3% are open to the possibility of doing so.
