The old phone number of a woman from Kirov helped a scammer "shop" on a marketplace.

      A woman from Kirov, born in 1995, approached the police to report money stolen from her bank account. The perpetrator, acting on the victim’s behalf, made purchases on a marketplace totaling 88,000 rubles.

      Police established that the Kirov resident had previously had a mobile phone number which she stopped using. Her marketplace account was linked to that number; she chose not to add a new one. An unknown person, having gained access to that number, logged into her account, obtained an installment card, ordered goods in the young woman’s name and collected them.

      An investigator with the Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a criminal case over the theft of money from the bank account. The identities of those involved in the theft are currently being established.
