The Central Bank approved nine "suspicious activity" indicators for cash withdrawals.
From September 1 banks will be required to monitor cash withdrawal transactions and, at the slightest signs of suspicious activity, limit the payout to 50,000 rubles per day for 48 hours, the Central Bank's Telegram channel reports.
The Central Bank has defined nine criteria by which credit institutions will be able to identify fraud risk. These include withdrawing money at an unusual time for the customer or in an atypical location, a sudden change in phone activity before the transaction, cash disbursement shortly after taking out a loan, early closure of a large deposit, as well as changing the phone number used to log into online banking.
If the transaction appears suspicious to the bank, the customer will receive a notification, and obtaining a larger amount will only be possible at a branch. Separate rules will apply to cash withdrawals from tokenized cards.
