On September 1 many workplaces in Kirov will be emptier — 36% of parents of schoolchildren plan to take time off or vacation to attend the school assembly with their children. Another 22% will come to work later than usual, after the festive events. Notably, women are more likely than men to be willing to devote the day to school and their children.
Employers, however, are not in a hurry to accommodate this: only 16% of companies officially give parents of schoolchildren the day off, and another 19% do so unofficially.
The tradition of corporate gifts for Knowledge Day is still rare in Kirov. Only 2% of employers give stationery sets to all employees’ children, and another 11% give them exclusively to first-graders.
