Ministry of Justice: a self-imposed ban on loans does not apply in three cases.
The agency reported that the self-imposed ban on obtaining loans does not apply in certain cases. These include:
taking out a mortgage secured by real estate
taking out an auto loan whose obligations are secured by the vehicle as collateral
taking out a primary educational loan to pay for tuition when the funds are transferred directly to the educational institution.
“In these types of loans the risk of fraud is minimal because borrowers undergo more thorough checks, and in most cases their personal presence is required when the documents are signed,” the regional Ministry of Justice noted.
The agency also reminded that the self-ban does not apply to disbursements on existing credit cards or to payment of debt on previously taken loans or credits. Current loans (credits) do not need to be repaid early to establish the self-ban — they will remain. However, it will not be possible to take out new loans.
As a reminder, as of August 1 this year the Kirov Region ranked 32nd in Russia in the number of applications to establish a self-ban on obtaining loans. In five months of the service’s operation, residents of the Kirov Region submitted 135,000 applications to set credit restrictions.
