A public vote for the "Cultural Capital 2027" continues on the Gosuslugi portal. Its results are taken into account by experts when determining the finalist cities and the contest winner.
Following the first stage, eight cities reached the final: Chelyabinsk (44 thousand votes), Vologda (30.2 thousand), Novosibirsk (24.4 thousand), Ulyanovsk (18.5 thousand), Sochi (13.3 thousand), Stavropol (6.3 thousand), Ryazan (3.1 thousand) and Kaluga (3.0 thousand). Kirov did not make the list of finalists. Vologda and Novosibirsk reached the final for the second time.
About 80% of participants in the vote are women, and the most active voters are residents aged 25 to 55. The leading regions by number of votes are Chelyabinsk Region (50 thousand), Vologda Region (29.9 thousand), Novosibirsk Region (25.7 thousand) and Ulyanovsk Region (19.4 thousand).
In the second stage, the finalist cities will present their projects: the reconstruction of monuments, the creation of tourist routes and the organization of festivals. Experts will evaluate the ideas and help determine the winner.
The "Cultural Capital" contest is being held for the third time and is aimed at developing the cultural and economic identity of Russian cities. Previous winners were Nizhny Novgorod, Grozny and Omsk.
