A 64-year-old woman from Kirov Oblast regained the use of her arm.

For two years a 64-year-old resident of the region had been experiencing discomfort in her left hand. The condition developed gradually, and over time she found it increasingly difficult to fasten clothing, tie shoelaces, and perform other routine tasks. Doctors diagnosed compression neuropathy of the median nerve at the level of the carpal tunnel — a condition in which the nerve is compressed and loses its normal function.

At the Traumatology Center the patient underwent surgery using microsurgical techniques, during which interfascicular neurolysis was performed. The very next day she returned home and continued outpatient treatment.

Doctors note that such cases are common, especially among women over 40. Each month the Center performs more than three dozen similar operations, helping people regain hand mobility and eliminate chronic pain.
