The head of the Kolyanur administration illegally postponed the memorial's repair deadlines four times.
Repairs of the memorial in the village of Kolyanur, dedicated to those killed in the Great Patriotic War, have been delayed by almost a year. The work, originally costing 3.5 million rubles, was to be completed by September 2024. Plans included restoration of the monument, installation of lighting, paving of a pathway and erection of a stele in memory of fallen participants of the special military operation.
When it became clear that the contractor would not meet the deadline, residents began to express their dissatisfaction. The head of the administration announced new deadlines almost every month, but the work kept being delayed. At the moment only the pathway’s paving stones are finished, while the contractor has not begun repairs to the monument or the lighting. Villagers, who collected 300,000 rubles for the improvements, had hoped to honor the memory of their compatriots on the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
After the intervention of the People’s Front, the prosecutor’s office found that the head of the administration had illegally postponed the work deadlines four times by signing corresponding supplementary agreements with the contractor. The prosecutor now intends to seek their termination in court. The head of the administration faces an administrative fine of up to 50,000 rubles. The contract with the contractor will likely be terminated, and he will be required to pay liquidated damages.
The People’s Front continues to keep the issue under control.
