At his handler’s instruction, the detainee painted pro‑Ukrainian slogans in public places in Kirov and also intended to set fire to relay cabinets on the Trans‑Siberian railway mainline in order to disrupt freight transport. Later he was tasked with traveling to Moscow, signing a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defence and, once in the zone of the special military operation, defecting to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. While attempting to travel to the Moscow region the man was detained. A criminal case has been opened against him under articles of the Russian Criminal Code providing for liability for participation in a terrorist organization’s activities and for high treason. The court ordered his pre‑trial detention. Taking into account the totality of the charges, the suspect faces life imprisonment.
