More than 100 residents of Kirov have overcome obesity with the help of bariatric surgery.
Over the past five years, more than 100 operations have been performed on patients with severe obesity at Kirov Clinical Hospital No. 7 named after V.I. Yurlova. Physicians use modern techniques, including sleeve gastrectomy and bypass procedures. All interventions are performed minimally invasively through small incisions in the abdominal wall.
Patients stay in the hospital for three to five days, and the recovery period after discharge lasts up to two weeks. They are more often women aged 30 to 45. Before the procedure, consultations and examinations are mandatory to assess health and rule out contraindications.
Doctors refer to third-degree obesity—when body mass index exceeds 40—as morbid obesity. It is almost impossible to overcome by conservative methods, so surgery often becomes the only option. Moreover, treatment success depends not only on the operation itself but also on adherence to postoperative recommendations.
After the procedure, the patient must exclude sweets, baked goods, processed meat products, carbonated drinks, and alcohol from their diet. Failure to follow these rules can lead to weight regain or recurrence of the condition.
