Ilyin Day: celebration and consecration in the Vyatka Diocese

Today, August 2nd, celebrations took place in the Vyatsk Diocese in honor of Ilina Day, the feast of the Prophet Elijah. On this day, Metropolitan Mark of Vyatsk and Slobodsk led the Divine Liturgy at the Ilina Church, followed by a procession around the church. Faith and prayers of the faithful became an important part of the festivities, uniting the community in prayer and gratitude for the protection and blessing of the Prophet Elijah.

Additionally, in the village of Krugllovo, Svetozarevsky District, a cross and dome were consecrated on the under-construction Ilina Church. This event marked a significant milestone towards completing the church, which will serve as a spiritual center for the local residents.

Ilina Day, traditionally celebrated as the feast of the Prophet Elijah, has its own particularities. Folk tradition includes a number of superstitions, such as a ban on swimming on this day, but the church tradition does not support such restrictions. Participation in church services and spiritual support of the community are considered important on this day.
