Retiree from Kirov trusted an "MVD investigator" and lost 650 thousand rubles
A 75-year-old pensioner received a call on her landline phone from someone claiming to be a police investigator, informing her that two criminal cases had been opened against a woman from Kirov. The caller provided their badge number and the name of their department and workplace.
According to the faux investigator, it is possible to avoid criminal liability and have the cases dismissed, but this would require money. In response to the victim's statement that she had 650,000 rubles, the unknown caller said that this amount was sufficient and ended the conversation.
Later, the caller reconnected with the pensioner and demanded she wrap the money in some unnecessary items, put it into a box, and pass it to a courier. The woman followed all the caller’s instructions.
Law enforcement officers managed to identify the courier: working for a delivery service, he simply received an order from an unknown person, unaware that he was involved in a criminal scheme. A criminal case has been initiated, and the identities of the caller and the recipient of the order are being established.
