Which laws will come into effect in August
Several important laws will come into effect in Russia in August. New restrictions have been introduced to combat fraud. Now, banks will be able to open accounts for minors only with parental consent. This will help prevent cases where teenagers are involved in schemes to launder stolen funds.
Russians will also be able to refuse advertising and fraudulent SMS messages. To do this, they will need to send a request to their mobile operator.
Responsibility for vandalizing military memorials and monuments is being tightened. Offenses involving the desecration of such objects, both in Russia and abroad, will now carry criminal penalties—up to five years of imprisonment.
For service members participating in the SVO, the validity periods of the results of the Unified State Exam (EGE) are being extended, making education more accessible after returning from service. They and their family members are also exempt from paying state fees when applying to court for establishing legally significant facts.
