Rospotrebnadzor explained which desserts can be dangerous in the heat

The Rospotrebnadzor department for the Kirov region reminded local residents of the risk of food poisoning during the summer season. In the heat, desserts containing cream, dairy products, or sold outdoors with improper storage are especially dangerous.

Often, the cause of poisoning is pastries and cakes with custard, cream, or protein fillings. At temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius, these sweets quickly lose freshness and become sources of staphylococci and salmonella.

Popular dairy desserts—such as curd masses, cheesecakes, and milkshakes—also pose a risk. They spoil rapidly in the heat, especially if storage conditions are not maintained.

Extra caution should be exercised when buying sweets outdoors. Re-frozen ice cream, sliced watermelons, and melons may contain dangerous microorganisms.

Experts advise avoiding such products in hot weather or carefully monitoring their storage conditions to prevent unpleasant consequences.
