In the Sunskiy district, a fire engulfed the solid waste landfill. According to the government, the fire has now been extinguished.
Minister of Environmental Protection Timur Abashev, district administration head Alexey Isupov, the director of the organization operating the landfill, and EMERCOM personnel attended the scene.
According to Abashev, soil is currently being delivered to the landfill, inert materials are being used for backfilling, and water is being sprayed. There is smoke in the area. Rospotrebnadzor staff are monitoring air quality near the nearest houses.
Studies have shown that the maximum permissible concentration of pollutants has not been exceeded. The minister added that there is currently no threat to people's lives and health.
