In Kirov, Peshockaya Spasskaya was renamed.
Kirov authorities probably cannot stop renaming streets. Upon the initiative of Alexey Cheptsov, head of the Event Management Directorate, Spasskaya Pedestrian Street received a new name — Promenade Spasskaya.
As Mr. Cheptsov explained, the reason for the renaming is simple. "A pedestrian street is one where people go somewhere. Usually in one direction. But on our Vyatsky Arbat, passersby usually don't just walk, they stroll, because there's something to look at," said Alexey Cheptsov, explaining "the renaming."
It should be noted that the Directorate's official social media account has already updated the posters with the current name — Promenade Spasskaya.
Possibly realizing that on part of Spasskaya, which became pedestrianized several years ago, there are a number of bars, coffee shops, and eateries, the Directorate might rename it to "Gathering Spasskaya," "Coffee Spasskaya," or "Drinking Spasskaya."
